Usage and purpose
This template is used to add disambiguation links (dab is Wikipedia shorthand for "disambiguation") to the top of article pages. While there are many other disambiguation-related templates, {{dablink}} is unquestionably the simplest as its sole function is to apply a consistent formatting to the text included as a parameter. See Wikipedia:Otheruses templates (example usage) for a list of templates with more specialized uses.
This template places an HTML div-/div block around the material given as its only argument, which forces browsers to correctly interpret the contained code. Contrary to what its name implies, it does not automatically create a link of any kind so any links must be added manually.
This is very useful for embedding effects within other templates, or on disambiguation lines heading an article.

Examples
These five examples demonstrate use of the {{indent}}
family of templates to provide different forcing wrap effects. The last shows the effect of an embedded HTML '<br />' line break.
